Christoph Köppel

Christoph advises and represents companies with a special focus on the areas of trade law (especially in an international context), company law and general contract law. Another special focus of Christoph’s activities is regarding Chinese law. In China related mandates, Christoph works closely together with the Chinese law firm Global Law Office, in which he holds a position as a Senior Legal Counsel.

Christoph studied law at the University of Fribourg and finalized his studies there in the year 1999 with a licentiate in legal studies. He was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 2003, after passing the bar exam of the Canton of Zürich. In the years 2006 and 2007, Christoph participated in a Master of Law program of the Tsinghua University in Beijing and finalized these studies with a LL.M. in Chinese economic law. During the years 2007 to 2010, Christoph was working first as an associate and thereafter as a resident partner and Chief Representative in a Representative Office of a European law firm in Beijing. In the year 2011, Christoph joined the Chinese law firm Global Law Office, first in Beijing and from 2017 on in Shanghai.


Xinru Ma

Xinru Ma is a Chinese lawyer and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe, educated in China at the Ocean University of China for the bachelor degree in law, and in Germany at the University of Munich for two master degrees in International Economic Law and German Law. Xinru specializes in Chinese and European data-related laws, foreign direct investment, general corporate law, and mergers and acquisitions, and has been actively involved in advising foreign invested companies regarding compliance with the Chinese network security, data, and personal information protection laws and the corresponding regulations.


Yutong Xiao

Yutong Xiao is a Chinese lawyer, educated in China at the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics for a bachelor’s degree in law, and at the Nanjing University for a master’s degree in economic law, as well as in Germany at the University of Göttingen for another master’s degree in law. She specializes in providing legal services in dispute resolution, debt collection, and foreign direct investment. She has represented clients in several commercial lawsuits and judicial enforcement cases, and provided legal advice on company affairs, such as the establishment of entities, the structuring of foreign investments in China, the execution of registration changes, and the de-registration of foreign invested enterprises in a variety of industries.


Ruyi Jie

Ruyi Jie is studying at KoGuan School of Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She has experience in general corporate law as well as in data compliance (including especially cross-border transfer of data). She assists the team in legal research and in general legal inquiries.


Shanmei Tan

Shanmei holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and is now supporting the our law firm as an assistant and as the responsible person for communications and marketing.
